PROCEDURE FOR THE INSTALLATION AND USAGE OF PALTALK
Introduction
PalTalk is software that enables real-time text, voice and video communication over the Internet. It is an instant messaging program, similar to Yahoo! Messenger, ICQ and MSN Messenger. Click here to learn more about instant messaging software.
PalTalk: Some Basic Concepts
- PalTalk contains categories, and categories contain groups. A group is like a room into which people can enter and communicate in real time with each other, using the keyboard, a microphone (optional), and a webcam (optional).
- Categories are fixed by PalTalk, but anyone can create a group.
- The creator of a group automatically becomes the group’s administrator. The administrator has complete control over the group.
Install an Ad Blocker First
PalTalk can be used for free. However, non-paying users of PalTalk will get pop-up ads, and too many pop-up ads can cause disruption. Therefore, should you wish to use PalTalk without paying, it is recommended that you first install software to block these pop-up ads. Freeware ad blockers can be downloaded from PC World’s website. Go to www.pcworld.com, scroll down to the bottom of the page to go to the “Browse by Topic” section, click “Downloads”, click “Privacy & Security”, then click “Ad Blockers”.
